parlando

On Parlando, his debut solo album, percussionist Christopher Clarino explores what it means for an instrument to speak. Five works by Igor Santos, Anthony Donofrio, Barbara Monk Feldman, Thomas DeLio and Michael Pisaro-Liu give voice to drums, cymbals, vibraphone and metallophones. Drawing on percussion’s long history as a means of communication, Clarino brings the character of each instrument into focus: its gestures, its inflections, its way of telling a story.

“A welcome addition to the contemporary percussion oeuvre.”

- Percussive Notes

“This is a phenomenal disc that deserves every success. The recording is excellent, the presentation well done, the booklet notes detailed…
but it is Clarino’s artistry that defines the significance of this release.”
